There is not much to update on regarding Trey. His blood counts still look really good. In fact, his doctor said that he did not foresee such a radical impact the removal of the spleen would have…so he is pleasantly surprised. Trey’s skin continues to look just a touch better each day. The dryness and peeling is unlike anything I have ever seen, but it appears to moving in the right direction.
Trey’s pain level from surgery is being tolerated by a pain pump. Trey likes this because all he has to do is push a button and he gets his own pain meds. He’s a control freak like his dad :-).
Something interesting is that Trey’s new favorite sleeping position is pictured below. He will sleep like this for hours, including through the night. He is very particular about it too. But whatever helps him sleep comfortably…I am all for.
I asked Trey’s doctor if he thought another transplant would still be necessary since Trey’s blood counts are rebounding so well right now. He said, “Absolutely.” He went on to say that the removal of the spleen just slows the growth of the abnormal cells down, but doesn’t cure the disease. He said that Trey would still need another transplant. However, he did day, “I’ll take a miracle though.” This coming from our doctor who does not believe in God was an interesting statement. My first thought was, “Be careful what you ask for.” I would love it if God chose to do the miraculous…the unexplainable…just so our doctors could see the power of the one true almighty God! We trust the Lord though, and whatever He chooses to do will be best…but you can bet that I’m asking God for a miracle everyday. The verse I read this morning was:
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped…(Psalms 28:7a).”
Please keep lifting the Trey man up! The removal of the spleen has proven to be a good thing…I’ll be excited to see how Trey’s body keeps responding during the next week. God’s not through with Trey just yet. I, for one, can’t wait to see what the Lord does through Trey.
Thanks for praying with us!
